Ursula Sternberg: Daydream

Summary
Ursula Sternberg: Daydream offers a glimpse into the career of Ursula Sternberg, an artist and pillar of the Philadelphia arts community. Sternberg’s life and career spanned many mediums and multiple continents taking her from Nazi-occupied Germany to Elkins Park, Pennsylvania.
While curating this career retrospective, I envisioned Ursula as the protagonist— and every compelling protagonist has a pressing goal. So what was Ursula's goal?
Ursula continually fostered a strong community of artists in Philadelphia, she felt this was crucial. To honor this, in both the programming and exhibition design I integrated opportunities for seasoned and casual artists alike to create communally. Inspired by images of Ursula's home in Elkins Park, I used color and texture to create an inviting space that echoed the warmth of Ursula and her work.
