The Day Job

Summary
I used to keep separate notebooks for each new project— until I realized this was leaving me with stacks of them, half-used and abandoned. So, I made the switch to one (indexed) notebook for everything. The unexpected benefit? Seeing how all my work connected, even when it seemed completely unrelated. Every job, every project built upon the last, shaping my creative perspective.
That intersection of creative pursuit and economic necessity is at the heart of The Day Job, an art exhibit I curated and designed. Selected from an open call, eight artists share their work alongside reflections on how their jobs inform their practice. Some even contributed workplace ephemera—tangible proof of the work they do behind-the-scenes.
